Over 10 weeks, I used a variety of media to tell compelling stories about an issue of social import.
The issue I chose was alternative activism. Activism is more than just rallies and sit-ins. Community groups advocate for important issues in interesting, creative ways. I told stories about alternative activists in the Eugene area, from craft supply recyclers to choirs singing for peace.

Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues are traditionally performed around Valentine’s Day to protest gender-based violence and to show solidarity with women all over the world. The Women’s Youth Advisory Council, a group based out of Ophelia’s Place community for girls, chose to create their own, slightly more age-appropriate version for this year’s V-Day.
